Lucky Irabor, chief of defence staff, and other military chiefs are at a meeting with Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo state.

The meeting, which is being held at the governor’s office, Oyo state secretariat, Ibadan, is expected to address security issues in the state.

The state has been in the spotlight following a spike in the clashes between herders and farmers in Ibarapa and Oke Ogun area of the state.

The crisis reached a new height when Sunday Adeyemo, a youth leader popularly known as Sunday Igboho, issued an eviction notice to herders in Ibarapa area, blaming them for insecurity in the state.

Seriki Saliu, a Fulani leader in the area, had to flee to Kwara state after youths led by Igboho asked him to leave Oyo state.

On Sunday, Iskilu Wakili, another Fulani leader, who is alleged to have links with kidnappers in Ibarapa, was attacked by members of Oodua People’s Congress.

An aide of the governor told TheCable that a press conference will be held after the governor’s meeting with the service chiefs.
