David Bille, the Anambra commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has warned officers against careless display with their weapons and uniforms.

Speaking during the decoration of 157 newly promoted officers of the command on Monday in Awka, the Anambra capital, Bille said the warning is as a result of the recent spate of attacks in the south-east.

There have been attacks on government facilities on states in the south-east, leading to the killing of several security operatives.

On May 21, two NSCDC officers were killed following an attack by gunmen at a security outpost in Umueri, Anambra east LGA of the state.

Bille, who urged officers to be on the alert, advised them to be aware of the activities of gunmen in the region.

“You must beware of the activities of gunmen and other bad eggs,” he said.

“Do not show off with your rifles and uniforms this time. Endeavour to watch yourselves because of several land mines in the entire zone.”
