Interior ministry tops as citizens’ tracker website receives 1,165 responses in 24 hours

The citizens’ delivery tracker received 1,165 responses within 24 hours after the federal government launched it.

On Monday, the federal government unveiled the citizens’ delivery tracker at the public demonstration of the initiative in Abuja.

Hadiza Bala-Usman, special adviser to the president on policy and coordination, said the federal government would hold every minister accountable on key deliverables of their portfolios.

The presidential aide said the tracker is an application that allows citizens to view the priority programmes and projects of the federal government on their devices.

She added that the application “presents citizens with the opportunity to give real-time feedback on their assessment of policies, projects, and programmes”.

Bala-Usman said the application will be available on Google play store and Apple store in May this year.

However, the website of the initiative is already live and can be accessed here.

The website listed the eight priority areas of the federal government led by President Bola Tinubu.

The site also indicates the ministries handling each of the priority areas.

Citizens can now access the website to rate the performance of each minister based on the priority areas.

INTERIOR MINISTRY TOPS LIST

Since Monday when the tracker became active, citizens have started visiting it to rate the performance of ministers and their ministries.

TheCable has obtained documents showing the report of citizens’ responses on the website.

The report shows that the website has recorded 1,165 responses since the launch.

The ministry of interior has the highest number of responses with 598 feedback followed by the ministry of power with 132 responses.

The ministry of trade and investment has 62 responses.

The ministry of finance is in fourth position with 57 responses while the ministry of agriculture and food security and the ministry of defence have 50 and  36 responses, respectively.

FEEDBACK FOR PRIORITY AREAS

The priority area to strengthen national security for peace and prosperity recorded 663 responses from Nigerians while the priority area to unlock energy and natural resources for sustainable development got 167 feedback.

Also, priority areas such as accelerate diversification through industrialisation, digitisation, creative arts, manufacturing and innovation got 77 feedback from Nigerians while reform the economy to deliver sustained inclusive growth received 77 responses.

Others like enhance infrastructure and transportation as enablers of growth received 61 and boosting agriculture to achieve food security got 53.

Focus on education, health and social investment as essential pillars of development has 49 feedback and improve governance for effective service delivery garnered 18 responses.

WHAT NIGERIANS POSTED

Citizens shared their thoughts about the performance of the various ministries and ministers.

A review of the feedback shows that some Nigerians are not happy with the state of electricity and the handling of the ministry of power by Adebayo Adelabu, its minister.

Many comments about the ministry of power were majorly on the complaints over the epileptic power supply in the country.

“Awful distribution and no evident impacts. Nigerians more in darkness than ever coupled with the heat,” a Nigerian wrote on the website.

Another ministry that received a large number of comments was the ministry of interior.

Many of those who shared their thoughts commended Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the minister of interior, for his positive impacts, especially in passport processing.

“Got the job done against all odds. The minister should be protected against passport hawks,” a citizen wrote.

Some other Nigerians also used the platform to lodge complaints about how they have not been able to get their passports after weeks of biometric registration.
