In this column, TechTime With Jola, I’m going to dive deep into programming languages, which are languages used to communicate information to the computer.

First, we will start with the basic programming language which is, HTML(Hypertext Markup Language), an awesome programming language.

HTML is the standard programming language for creating web pages and web applications. With Cascading Style Sheets and JavaScript (other programming languages), it forms a triad of cornerstone technologies for the World Wide Web.

In this article, as seen in the topic, we will introduce ourselves to HTML and how to set it up on your computer.

It is fundamental to use a computer to program because it is difficult to type complex code on phones and other devices.

How To Set Up HTML On Your Computer

To set up HTML on your computer, you will need a desktop application known as Atom. You can download Atom online by copying this link onto your search engine: “https://atom.io/

  • Once you’ve done that you would click the download button and download the software onto your

  • Create a folder for your HTML and other coding
  • Once that is done, you would click, “open a project”, and click on the folder you
  • Afterwards, click on the “Alt” tab and press “file” at the top-left hand
  • Then, click on “new file”. Using the keyboard shortcut “Ctrl+S”, save your

Note: Because it is an HTML file you are making you have to end the name of your document with “.html”, also do not use spaces when naming your HTML file. For example, “ jola.html” is the name of my HTML file.
