The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has suspended the Action Democratic Party (ADP) for allegedly refusing to be a signatory to its constitution.
In a letter dated October 7 and addressed to Yabagi Sani, national chairman of the ADP, Maxwell Mgbudem, IPAC national secretary, said the decision was made at an emergency meeting of the council’s general assembly on August 1.
Mgbudem said the council’s constitution is the binding instrument regulating its affairs, and the ADP’s “deliberate refusal” to sign it amounts to a disregard for the governing framework.
“The General Assembly, after due deliberations, resolved to suspend the Action Democratic Party (ADP) from all activities of the Council,” the letter reads.

“This decision became necessary owing to ADP’s deliberate refusal to be a signatory to the IPAC Constitution, which is the binding instrument regulating the affairs of the Council.
“Consequently, ADP cannot continue to participate in the activities of IPAC while disregarding its constitutional obligations.”
The council directed all ADP state chairpersons currently occupying leadership positions in IPAC to forfeit such offices with immediate effect.

Mgbudem said the suspension highlights IPAC’s commitment to upholding its constitution and promoting unity, discipline, and credibility within Nigeria’s political system.
