IPMAN resumes fuel distribution in Port Harcourt, Calabar — after one-day strike

IPMAN resumes fuel distribution in Port Harcourt, Calabar — after one-day strike

The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has resumed the distribution of products in its designated eastern zones.

This is coming a day after IPMAN had directed members of the association at deports within its eastern zone to suspend the supply and distribution of products effective from August 2.

The directive was given based on an alleged harassment of IPMAN members by the police.

Sanusi Fari, IPMAN national president, had said the strike was also to protest against the forceful takeover of the IPMAN office at the Port Harcourt depot on July 30, under the leadership of Joseph Obele.

In a statement on Tuesday, Fari said that Obele and members of his leadership were reinstated in office on Monday and that the strike has been called off with immediate effect.

He said: “The National Executive Committee of IPMAN wishes to inform you officially that our members have resumed loading and operations in the Eastern Zone of Aba, Calabar, Enugu, Makurdi and Port Harcourt Depots Units.

“The respective chairmen are directed to start operations immediately.”

IPMAN also said a meeting has been scheduled with the inspector-general of police over the leadership crisis in the association on Wednesday.

According to the statement, the outcome of the meeting will determine its next line of action.
