Kabir Marafa, senator representing Zamfara central, says his ambition to be governor of the state is not a do-or-die affair.

Marafa said this while reacting to an alleged threat of Abdulaziz Yari, governor of the state, that there would be chaos if the direct primary is used to pick the state’s All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate.

The poll was shifted from Monday to Tuesday.

In a statement on Tuesday, Marafa called on President Muhammadu Buhari and Ibrahim Idris, inspector-general of police (IGP), to prevent any act that would lead to bloodshed in the state.

He said his ambition is premised on the need to salvage the state.

“It is unfortunate that a governor that has turned a blind eye to the death of thousands will threaten to cause bloodbath in his state because of party issues. What a shame?” the statement read.

“For me, my ambition is premised on the need to salvage the state from total collapse. It is not a do-or-die affair.
