According to the BBC, the 25-year-old joined United for an initial payment of £65 million.

Speaking to the club after completing the protracted transfer, Mbuemo expressed his enthusiasm at choosing and joining his dream club, which he has supported since childhood.

The striker, who scored 20 goals last season with mid-table Brentford, also backed himself to help Man United return to its glory days by challenging for trophies again.

“As soon as I knew there was a chance to join Manchester United, I had to take the opportunity to sign for the club of my dreams; the team whose shirt I wore growing up,” the forward said.

“My mentality is to always be better than I was yesterday. I know that I have the spirit and character to reach another level here learning from Ruben Amorim and playing alongside world-class players.

“Everybody told me about the environment that is being created here and how exciting the plans are for the future. This is a massive club, with an incredible stadium and amazing fans, we are all really determined to challenge for the biggest trophies.”

Mbeumo joins Ruben Amorim’s Man United as the third summer signing, following in the footsteps of Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon.

Man United finished in 16th place last season, their worst-ever EPL finish, and Jason Wilcox, the club’s director of football, believes Mbeumo’s record as a proven goalscorer in the EPL could reignite United’s ambitions.
