It’s season of giving, says Sanwo-Olu as he presents Christmas gifts to Lagos residents

Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governor of Lagos, has presented gifts to some residents of the state to celebrate the yuletide season.

The beneficiaries of the gifts were drawn from all parts of the Island and Mainland, including Surulere, Oshodi, Ejigbo, Ogba, Ikeja, Ikorodu, Abule-Egba, Ajah.

According to the governor, the gesture was inspired by the Christmas period which he described as a season of giving.

Sanwo-Olu added that it is a season to show kindness and affection to one another.

“This season, be your brother’s keeper, check in on your neighbours, lend a helping hand,” Sanwo-Olu said.

“It is the season of giving, therefore show kindness to one another in gifts and affection. I hope we are inspired, even in our own little way to make someone happy.”

The governor noted that he decided to meet the wishes of some of the residents who commented on his social media page asking for help.

The items presented include foodstuffs, laptops, home appliances, business equipment, while some had their tuition fees paid.

Many beneficiaries expressed delight when the exact gifts they had requested were delivered to them.

“I got the laptop delivered to my door this evening and it still feels like a dream”, says Oluwagbotemi Moshood, a final year student.

Precious Onome, a caterer who won a deep freezer, thanked the governor for his kindness.

“Is this real? You have no idea what this means to my business, Nomzy Kitchen. Thank you Santa Sanwo-Olu!” she said.

The seasonal giveaway is open to all residents within Lagos and is billed to run throughout the yuletide season, into the new year.
