Ishaq Oloyede, registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), has commissioned the NATAP 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 JAMB award project in Kaduna Polytechnic.
The commissioned projects include a medical laboratory building for the Shehu Kangiwa Medical Center, a crime investigation office, supply of ICT accessories, renovation of Block A and B of the applied science department, and an upgrade of the Spider FM Radio.
Oloyede said the medical lab was constructed to enhance the medical system and operations in healthcare delivery within the Kaduna Polytechnic community and Kaduna state.
Speaking during the pre-commissioning and press briefing, he appreciated Kaduna Polytechnic’s foresight in managing the institution’s development.

Oloyede explained the criteria for the JAMB award, stating that part of the selection criteria included that an institution must have the highest number of admission seekers.
Also a criterion is that the institution must be admitting candidates from every state of the federation and the FCT.
Institutions with the most foreign admissions, gender balance, compliance with admission regulations were also considered.

Oloyede charged all institutions in Nigeria to operate an inclusive admission system to curtail issues of tribalism and promote national cohesion.
The registrar noted that compliance with admission regulations is very important for the award and that validation is done by the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) to avoid bias.
He commended Kaduna Polytechnic’s efforts in promoting education beyond Africa.
In turn, Oluwakemi Pinheiro, chairman of the governing council at Kaduna Polytechnic, expressed pride in witnessing the commissioning of the projects and commended the management as a hardworking team.

He commended the JAMB registrar and Suleiman Umar, the rector of Kaduna Polytechnic, for sustainable educational development.
The chairman stated that he has pledged his sitting allowance to assist indigent students in line with the vision of promoting education.
He lauded the management, led by the rector Suleiman Umar, for it’s “consistency, credibility, and unwavering commitment to excellence.”
Pinheiro added that the management has “utilized JAMB intervention funds with utmost prudence and purpose.”

He said the JAMB projects would serve the larger community, not only the staff and students.
The chairman reassured development partners, including JAMB and TETFund, that Kaduna Polytechnic would be a good steward of every resource entrusted to it.
