JAMB: Why CBT candidates haven’t seen results
The Joint admissions and Matriculation Examination (JAMB) has identified poor telecommunication service as the reason why a number of candidates who wrote the board’s Computer-Based Test (CBT) have not received their results.
Hordes of candidates who wrote the CBT have besieged TheCable to express disappointment with their endless wait for the results.
But speaking during an interview with TheCable on Friday, Public Relations Officer of JAMB, Mr. Fabian Benjamin, affirmed that true to the board’s promise, the results of the tests are sent to candidates not later than two hours after the tests are written.
He said, for example, that all results for the CBT written on Monday May 19, 2014, have since been released to the candidates.
“The results are always released two hours after the examination. The results are out, but we are having issues with the network providers,” Benjamin said.
“Immediately we finish marking, we send text messages to all the candidates, and all the messages always show that they have been delivered. However, we have been getting complaints from some of the candidates from different quarters that they are yet to see their result.
“We understand the trauma they might be going through. Unfortunately, we are still on the field; that is why I would advise that they buy scratch cards and check online.”
He admitted knowledge of the reluctance of candidates to purchase scratch cards, but he reiterated that previous claims that the proceeds do not go to JAMB.
“The money does not come to us, but to the Information Communication Technology (ICT) Company that charges results to be pasted on its site,” he said.
“We came up with this because of network issues like we are experiencing now in the aspect of sending messages, and to also enable the candidates sit in the comfort of their homes and check their results online.”
He also confirmed that the CBT, which was partially introduced last year, will come into full implementation in 2015, replacing the written test, as it has helped “in no small measure” to reduce exam malpractices, while also bolstering the compliance of youths with Information Communication Technology (ICT).
“This CBT is to find a way towards International best practices, and it has helped us to check malpractices. Young girls and boys become enlightened in the ICT world,” he said.
“It has also proven that candidates merit whatever marks they score, and it gives them confidence that they actually worked for it. There is no room for malpractice, because we mark immediately and send the result within two hours.”
The ongoing CBT, which is the second in the series, began on Saturday May 17, 2014, and will end on May 31, 2014.

pls help us to profer solution to this problem, i have been expecting my results since on 20th, i wrote the exam on 19th, i have bought the card and i have been unable to check, it was bringing no result yet and i have tried it 3times pls i don’t have the money for another card.
JAMB is telling a bunch of lies. I bought the card for my niece. I just checked again now, no result. They cannot conduct CBT for a handful of candidates, yet they want to conduct for over 1,000,000 candidates in less than 12 months time. Please, Federal Government should stop them before they cause a major disaster next years.
I wronte the exam on the 23 of may I had to travel all the way To osun state from lagos, place have never been to please help us because it,s fustrating, thank you.

I took mine on the 21st by 12pm, I’m yet to see the result. Hey guys, the scratch card you purchased during registeraction still works. That’s what I’ve been using in checking mine and keeps saying “no result yet” you too can use it as well instead of using the E-bundle endlessly and later turns a waste yet no result. Is hightime we protest against this continuous misconduct.boko harram withheld approximately 230 girls from one state,but jamb has withheld(NO RESULT YET!!!) over 1000 or even more innocent children from 36states.Infact! I’m very furious o. I did my JAMB exam on the 17th of May, 7.00a.m. I was supposed to do the exam @ Dof c.b.t centre, bt dere system failed 2 work dt day, so we were taken to Kindle e-learning centre which was beside Dof c.b.t centre. I received a message 4rm JAMB d 2nd day(18th) dt my exam centre nd time had bn changed, and dt I shud re-print my e-registration slip for new details. I was very surprised since I’ve done d exam d previous day, bt I printed d new slip where I saw dt my new date was d following day(19th) nd my new exam centre was Kindle e-learning centre(d same place I did it). I went dere on dt Monday(4rm Lagos back 2 Abeokuta), and I was told d message was nt meant candidate dt av done deirs, I ws also told dt I was nt d only one dt received d message, imagine dt 4rm a well organised body like JAMB. I red about one news of jamb official, the lattest news on “no result yet” they were talking about candidate not filling is phone number correctly, we accept. That about “no result yet”are we also not filling our reg. No. Correctly, this people are criminal. They are not even addressing the issue. jamb is so so incompetent. Thank U God! I also thank JAMB all d way. After almost 3weeks of sleepless nights because of my result(since May 17), I was able to check it on the internet yesterday using e-buddle card.
