A 68-year-old Japanese man, who clearly hated his late wife, decided to give her an ignoble send-off by flushing her ashes down a supermarket’s toilet immediately after she was cremated.

Shocked employees called authorities after they came across ashes, human bone fragments, including a chin, in the toilet bowl.

No traditional funeral for the woman

After news of the bizarre incident went public, the man turned himself into the authorities.

“Life was a real pain before she died,” said the pensioner, who has not been named.

He said his resentment towards his late wife had been building for many years. His wife died at 64, following an illness.

A Tokyo police spokesman said prosecutors are considering whether to charge him with abandoning a human body, as ashes can only be scattered in approved locations.

However, given Japan is a male-dominated society where loveless matches are very common, it’s unlikely he’ll be prosecuted.
