Abdulmumin Jibrin, former chairman of the appropriation committee of the house of representatives, on Tuesday said the Department of State Services (DSS) saved him from the alleged plot of kidnap by Yakubu Dogara, speaker of the house of representatives.

Jibrin said Dogara did not conceive the idea alone, alleging that Yusuf Lasun, deputy speaker; AlHassan Doguwa, chief whip; and Leo Ogor, minority speaker, were also in the knowt.

The lawmaker said his lawyers had to come to his aid by seeking “maximum protection” from the DSS and police.

Jibrin expressed confidence that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would put pressure on Dogara to reconvene the house and face his “imminent prosecution”.

“The QUARTET of Speaker Dogara and others were determined to abduct or kidnap me until few days when my lawyers requested and got maximum protection for me from the DSS and police,” he said in a statement.

“I am confident that the party will do the rightful thing by throwing its weight to support our resolve to wipe out corrupt people and institutional corruption in the house and prevail or direct Speaker Yakubu Dogara, deputy speaker Yusuf Lasun, whip Alhassan Doguwa and minority leader Leo Ogor to reconvene the house immediately and Step aside to face their imminent prosecution and save the party and our dear country further embarrassment.”

He denied the reports that he was summoned before a disciplinary committee of the party over his recent outbursts, explaining that the APC only invited him to hear his own side of the story.

“I wish to state as follows. That I only received a letter yesterday evening inviting me to a meeting in respect of the current crisis in the house today by 2pm at the party’s secretariat. The letter did not in anyway indicate it is a disciplinary committee,” he said.

“And I have responded that I will attend the meeting despite my tight schedules shuttling between security and anti corruption agencies to provide support and evidence against Speaker Yakubu Dogara and 9 others the party had stated that it has made several attempt to reach me through calls and text messages.”
