Herman Hembe, a member of the house of representatives from Benue state, has accused Abdulmumin Jibrin of running away from prosecution.

Jibrin, who was suspended from the house over some allegations leveled against the leadership of the 8th assembly, is currently in London where he received an award.

The suspended lawmaker has vowed not return to Nigeria until his safety was guaranteed.‎

But in a statement on Monday, Hembe said Jibrin fled to London because ‎the anti-graft agencies were closing in on him on his past deeds.

“My attention has been drawn to a statement issued by the suspended member Abdulmumin Jibrin who has fled to United Kingdom,” the statement read.

“Jibrin’s allegation that his life is under threat is laughable and foolish. I understand that the anti-graft agencies are closing in on him  with their investigation into his past deeds.

“He might have got the hint of his possible and prosecution and decided to flee while raising false alarm.

“May I remind him that no matter where he goes justice will surely catch up with him as there is no hiding place for criminals in our today’s world.”

It blows my mind when a robber could boldly call someone else a thief and goes ahead to demonize him. Jibrin is suffering for blowing the whistle. Unfortunately the completely docile citizens of this country have not responded significantly towards his protection and support. Unfortunate indeed how these political rogues can be so bold and devoid of any iota of shame. We live in terrible times.
