The John Utaka Foundation football team will represent Nigeria at the five-aside SATUC World Cup.
The tournament is billed to take place between August 12 and 17 in Bulgaria.
Usman Chata, team coordinator of the foundation, said: “The second edition of SATUC U-15 World Cup slated for Bulgaria is also fully sponsored by the Bulgarian Football Union and its attracting 16 nations and 126 players.
“Also 16 counties including Nigeria, Morocco, Egypt, Cameroon, Cote D’ Ivoire, Liberia, England, host Bulgaria and others will participate in the 2018 edition of the tournament.”
Chata said eight players and three officials will represent Nigeria at the tournament.
“SATUC World Cup is organised for the less privileged children of participating countries aimed at bettering their lives through football,” he said.
“Its mainly organised for the less privileged children that don’t have the opportunity of representing their countries in the FIFA organised underaged world cups.”
Sheriff Ajibola, chief coach of the team, explained that “the final eight players that formed the team were picked after rigorous screening through friendly matches played in Kaduna, Niger, Kogi and Abuja. I am very confident that this team will make Nigeria proud in Bulgaria. We are targeting the world cup”.
