President Goodluck Jonathan has approved the appointment of five new judges for the federal high court of the federal capital territory.
Soji Oye, the acting director of information at the National Judicial Council (NJC) disclosed this on Tuesday.
He said the appointment was based on the recommendation of NJC.
The new appointees are Muawiyah Idris from Taraba; Bello Kawu from Gombe; Udukwu Umar from Ebonyi; Kezieh Nwamaka from Enugu and Anriete Ebang from Akwa-Ibom.
Oye however made it known that they would be sworn-in at the chief judge’s annual merit award, end of year get-together and send-forth of 2014 retirees, scheduled for Thursday.
“They will be sworn-in by the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) and Chairman of the National Judicial Council, Justice Mahmud Mohammed, GCON, on Thursday, December 18, 2014 at 11:00am in the Supreme Court of Nigeria,” he said.
Known as the federal revenue court until 1979, the federal high court was established by the federal revenue act 1973 (1973 No.13).
