Jonathan: I didn’t approve ‘any $2bn’ for arms

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has denied the allegation that he approved the sum of $2 billion for the procurement of arms.

Speaking at the National Democratic Institute in Washington on Thursday, Jonathan, who has not made any public comment about the allegations against his government, said “people have been playing politics with serious issues”.

President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the arrest of Sambo Dasuki, Jonathan’s national security adviser, for allegedly misappropriating huge sums of money during his time in office but Dasuki denied the allegation and accused the current administration of witch-hunt.

The security chief said Jonathan consented to all the money spent on procurement of arms.

“In a theatrical manner, the presidency fed the public with many allegations against my person and yet-to-be-named former public officers,” he had said in a statement.

“All contracts and accruing payments were with the approval of the president and commander-in-chief of the armed forces…  So, there was due process for every purchase in line with regulations guiding arms procurement for the armed forces.”

However, Jonathan said many of the allegations against his government are untrue.

“Sometimes, I feel sad when people mention these figures,” he said.

“I did not award any $2 billion contract for procurement of weapons. Where did the money come from? I did not award a contract of $2billion for procurement of weapons.

“Corruption is now used for political campaign; during the first visit of President Buhari to the United States he said that about $150billion was lost to corruption, though he didn’t mention me, he said by previous administration.

“The figures are staggering and untrue, another governor said someone stole a million barrels of oil per day.”

By the time court trials are opened against all unscruplous elements involved in the stolen Arms money and they begin to sing, Nigerians will know what sort a liar our former President Jonathan was. We will like to see the end of this matter. And for those insinuating PMB in on a revenge mission, time will really tell he was sent to deliver Nigeria and Nigerians from the clutch of the wicked enemies called fellow-citizen who have milked our souls dry.

Tiercel, how dare you call one of the best president of the world a liar! Can you point to any significant thing that Mr. Buhari has done after more than 180 days in office? It took him almost or 120 days to reveal his ministers names, even that was in batches! Despite Buhari’s highly magnified “hatred” for CORRUPTION, corruption is still flourishing under his “no-nonsense” watch! As I write, PETROL is sold for an average of #120.00-#200.00 across our nation! Despite his highly glorified BODY LANGUAGE, the prediction of the U.S.A. diplomats is about to come to pass partially. The Eastern region of Nigeria is already travailing to give birth to the Federal Republic of Biafra! Only God can tell if Buhari can kill this new baby in the womb of this region! He is busy flying to Paris and other countries, and insane BOKO MALLAMS and diehard MASSOB and IPOB are flying in to strategise and re-strategise to establish Islamic Caliphate and Biafra in the territory he sworn to protect and defend! So, don’t insult GEJ!
