President Goodluck Jonathan on Friday in Abuja inaugurated the Defence Radio 107.7 FM radio station, owned by the defence Headquarters.

The radio station is located inside the Mogadishu Cantonment, Abuja.

Jonathan said the radio station, which is said to be first of its kind in West Africa, would play a crucial role in informing the public about the activities of the armed forces.

Commending the military for its role in quelling insurgency in the northeast, he condemned negative criticisms against the armed forces, saying that while it was important to criticise, such an action should not be taken to weaken the morale of troops.
