Prominent Nigerians, including former President Goodluck Jonathan, who have contributed to democratic governance and societal development are set to be honoured at the 2025 Democracy Heroes Award Africa.
Organised by Face of Democracy Nigeria Projects (FDN Projects), the award is scheduled for October 16 at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja with the theme “Legacy of leadership: Powering Africa’s future.”
In a statement on Tuesday, Olufunsho Ajagbonna, the project director of FDN, said the award celebrates political leaders who have deepened democratic culture through impactful initiatives.
Ajagbonna added that the award also honours entrepreneurs, business leaders, and entertainers whose efforts have fostered stability by creating jobs, empowering youth, and alleviating poverty.

He listed Nyesom Wike, minister of federal capital territory (FCT); Sani Musa, senator representing Niger east, Opeyemi Bamidele, the senate majority leader; and Duma Gideon Boko, president of Botswana, among those to be honoured.
Governors of Borno, Cross River, Ondo, Oyo, Katsina, Delta, Ebonyi, Kaduna, and Kebbi, among others are also expected to receive honours at the event.
