Jonathan sets up committee to implement confab report

President Goodluck Jonathan on Friday set up a committee to study and arrive at an implementation strategy for the reports of the Justice Idris Kutuigi-led national conference.

In a statement issued by Osie Johnson, an assistant director in the office of the secretary to the government of the federation, the committee comprising mainly members of Jonathan’s cabinet, was mandated to commence sitting immediately.

The committee’s terms of reference include: studying the report of the conference; articulating the recommendations and developing appropriate strategies for its implementation and advising the federal government on all matters necessary for the effective implementation of the report.

While Mohammed Bello Adoke, the attorney-general of the federation was appointed as the chairman, Mr. Anyim Pius Anyim, the secretary to the government of the federation was picked as secretary.

Other members of the committee include: minister of aviation, Mr. Osita Chidoka; minister of transport, Senator Idris Umar; minister of state for federal capital territory administration, Oloye Olajumoke Akinjide, minister of State for finance, Ambassador Bashir Yuguda and minister of works, Architect Mike Onolememen.

The conference, which comprised 492 delegates, was inaugurated in March and ended in August.
