Joseph Akaagerger
Joseph Akaagerger, the former Benue senator and military administrator, has died at the age of 69.
Akaagerger‘s passing was announced by Benjamin Omale, chairman of the caretaker committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue state.
Akaagerger represented Benue’s north-east senatorial district at the national assembly from 2007 to 2011.
The party described him as “more than a political figure”.

“The late senator was a symbol of integrity, wisdom, and courage, whose legacy transcends partisanship,” the statement reads.
The APC said Akaagerger dedicated his life to public service and the welfare of his people.
“He consistently championed the causes of justice, equity, and development, earning the admiration and respect of friends and political opponents alike,” the statement reads.

The party recalled his principled stance and strong leadership during his time in the national assembly.
“He brought honour and dignity to the office, leaving behind a record of leadership that will continue to inspire generations,” the statement added.
“His death is a monumental loss, not just to the Konshisha people and the Jechira bloc, but to the entire Benue state and Nigeria at large.
“We have lost a voice of reason, a pillar of wisdom, and a bridge between generations.”

‘HE BUILT BRIDGES OF UNITY’
Dikko Radda, governor of Katsina state, also mourned the passing of Akaagerger, describing him as “a brother who bound Katsina and Benue with cords of friendship that death cannot sever”.
In a statement issued on Monday by Ibrahim Mohammed, his chief press secretary, the governor said Akaagerger’s short tenure left a lasting impact on the people of Katsina.
“In the brief but impactful period he spent steering the affairs of our state, he built bridges that have withstood the test of time,” the statement reads.

“As we bid farewell to this legal luminary, distinguished soldier, and true servant of the people, we find comfort in the legacies of unity, selfless service, and unwavering integrity he has left behind.”
Radda prayed for the repose of his soul and asked God to grant his family the strength to bear the loss.

On May 11, Caleb Olubolade, the former military administrator of Bayelsa state, passed away at the age of 70.
Olubolade, who served as minister of special duties under former Premier Goodluck Jonathan, died on in Apapa area of Lagos.

According to a statement released by his children, Akinadewo and Dayo Olubolade, the former minister slumped at a lawn tennis facility.
