Results trickling in from Rivers south-east senatorial district are in favour of the All Progressives Congress (APC), with Magnus Abe, candidate of the party in the district, having a good chance to return to the upper chamber of the national assembly.

Abe lost the 2015 general election, but challenged the outcome of the exercise, which was eventually nullified and the appellate court, ordered a rerun.

APC cleared two federal constituencies in the district.

In Khana/Gokana, Maurice Pronem polled 68,219 votes to defeat Dumnamene Dekor, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who secured 20,329 votes.

With 48,760 votes, Barry Mpigi of the APC defeated Jacobson Nbina, his PDP rival, who secured 11,737 votes in Tai/Oyigbo/Eleme.

In Khana state constituency 2, Friday Nkeeh of the APC defeated Dinebari Loolo of the PDP.

Nkeeh got 15,000 votes , while his opponent polled 4,000 votes.

I think very seriously, that all elections in the country should no longer be contested by other political parties in the country, let APC candidates be returned unopposed. That way we can have peace, and let’s see if they can concentrate and give us governance.
