Audu Maikori, Chocolate City CEO, has been released from police detention, 24 hours after his arrest.

Maikori was on Friday arrested by the police for making claims which allegedly exacerbated the Southern Kaduna crisis.

Edward Ayide-Israel, the business development manager of Chocolate City, announced his release on Twitter.

He wrote: “Thanks everyone for #FreeAudu He’s been released. Thanks everyone for your advocacy to #FreeAudu He’s out now. God bless you.

“We owe the release of @Audu to the good work of his lawyer Barr. Mark Jacob and your unending calls to #FreeAudu Great job guys.”

Rapper and president of Chocolate City, MI Abaga, also said he has spoken to Maikori, noting that he’s doing okay.

“Just spoke to Audu.. he is well.. thank you all for the support,” he wrote on Twitter.

The rapper also tweeted a picture of Maikori with the caption, “Thank you everyone.”

Obiageli Ezekwesili, former minister of education, had earlier on Saturday, said Kaduna state governor Nasir el-Rufai had agreed to release Maikori.
