A federal high court in Abuja has reinstated Momoh Jimoh as the speaker of the Kogi state house of assembly.

Jimoh alongside other principal officers was impeached in February.

But on Thursday, Nnamdi Dimgba, the judge, ruled that the impeachment did not follow constitutional provisions.

Dimgba held that in the 25-member assembly, only a fraction of members consented to the impeachment of Jimoh.

He, therefore, ordered the reinstatement of the plaintiff as speaker.

Jimoh had filed a suit at the court challenging his removal.

The removal of the principal officers of the assembly in February plunged it into a crisis.

The house of representatives had to intervene by shutting the assembly down to forestall a degeneration of the situation.
