US President Donald Trump has again announced a 100 percent tariff on movies made outside the country.
In a Truth Social post on Monday, Trump said the move was aimed at countering what he called the “theft” of America’s movie-making industry by foreign nations.
“Our movie making business has been stolen from the United States of America, by other Countries, just like stealing “candy from a baby.” California, with its weak and incompetent Governor, has been particularly hard hit! Therefore, in order to solve this long time, never ending problem, I will be imposing a 100% Tariff on any and all movies that are made outside of the United States. Thank you for your attention to this matter. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN! President DJT,” he wrote.
Trump, however, did not give details on when the measure would take effect or how it would be enforced.

This marks the second such declaration. In May, Trump had announced a similar tariff on foreign movies, citing Hollywood’s decline as producers and directors were being lured by incentives abroad.
He described the trend as a national security threat and argued that the policy would “save” the U.S. film industry.
Trump added that he had authorised the department of commerce to begin the implementation process, though specifics remain unclear.

It is also uncertain whether Monday’s announcement represents an expansion of the earlier tariffs or simply a restatement of them.
