President Muhammadu Buhari is currently meeting with Yahaya Bello, governor of Kogi, at the presidential villa in Abuja.

Bello is one of the presidential hopefuls of the All Progressives Congress (APC) participating in today’s primary.

On Monday, the Kogi governor did not attend the northern governors’ meeting with Buhari.

Speaking after the northern governors’ meeting with Buhari, Nasir el-Rufai, Kaduna governor, said Bello was against the governors’ decision on zoning the presidential ticket to the south.

Bello was later seen in a video storming out of a building, while Abdullahi Sule, Nasarawa governor, was trying to placate him and Babagana Zulum, Borno governor, followed closely behind.

Meanwhile, the Kogi governor, in an interview on Sunday, had described the northern governors’ decision as “self-opinion”, adding that it is not binding on him or the party.

“Going by that statement, if assuming, without conceding, that such statement came from some of my colleagues, it is just self-opinion,” he had said.

“It is not binding on Nigerians, it is not binding on me, it is not binding on the party because PGF north is not an organ of the party. It is not binding on northerners and Nigerians, generally.”
