Tinubu appoints consuls-general, chargè d’ affaires for 14 countries

President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of 12 consuls-general and five chargè d’ affaires for 14 countries.

Alkasim Abdulkadir, special assistant on media and communications strategy to Yusuf Tuggar, minister of foreign affairs, made the announcement in a statement on Tuesday.

Tuggar charged the newly appointed chargé d’ affaires and consuls-general to be good ambassadors of Nigeria.

Names of the chargé d’ affaires and missions posted include: Saidu Dodo Damascus, (Syria); Patrick Imoudu Imologhome (Pyongyang, Democratic People’s Republic of Korea); Francisca Omayuli (Singapore, Singapore); Babagana Ahmadu (Bangui, Central African Republic); and Mohammed Mohammed (Tripoli, Libya).

The consuls-general and their consulates are Auwalu Namadina (Atlanta, USA); Nnamdi Nze (Bata, Equatorial Guinea); Francis Enya (Douala, Cameroon); Gbadebo Afolabi (Shanghai, China); Oludare Folowosele (Hong Kong, China); Abubakar Jidda, (New York, USA); Yakubu Dadu (Frankfurt, Germany); Taofik Coker (Buea, Cameroon); George Onwuekwe (Guangzhou, China); Umar Bashir (Johannesburg, South Africa); Zayyan Ibrahim (Dubai, UAE); and Muazam Nayaya (Jeddah, Saudi Arabia).

The minister further advised that as seasoned career diplomats, the appointees should shun politicking and recommit themselves to their calling, in the interest and development of the nation.

Speaking on behalf of the new appointees, Jidda promised that they will uphold the profession’s ethos and drive investments to their nation.
