The Kaduna state security council has imposed a 24-hour curfew in Jema’a and Kaura local government areas of the state.

This comes one day after at least 21 people were killed in renewed attacks in four communities in the two local government areas.

Many houses were also burnt in the attacks.

In a statement on Tuesday, Samuel Aruwan, spokesman of Nasir el-Rufai, governor of the state, said the curfew was imposed to prevent further break down of law and order.

“The action became necessary to protect life and property and avoid the further breakdown of law and order in the two local government areas,” Aruwan said.

“All security agencies on a special operation in the two local government areas have been directed to ensure strict compliance.

“Only essential workers and those on humanitarian services are allowed movement after due clearance by security agencies.”

This is the third time that curfew would be imposed in the two LGAs under the current administration.

On Monday, Ismaila Isa, garrison commander of the 1 division of the Nigerian army, and Agyole Abeh, commissioner of police in the state, relocated to southern Kaduna to coordinate a determined response to renewed attacks.
