Senate approves Buhari’s 15 special advisers

The senate has approved the request of President Muhammadu Buhari to appoint 15 special advisers.

In a letter a letter read on the floor of the upper chamber on Tuesday, Buhari asked the senators to approve his request for the appointment of 15 special advisers.

Acting on that, the senate gave its approval on Wednesday.

The president had earlier appointed Femi Adesina, as his special adviser on media and publicity and Garba Shehu, as his senior special assistant on media and publicity.

It is not certain if the number of special advisers of the president will increase, but Goodluck Jonathan, his predecessor, appointed at least 24 special advisers.

Meanwhile, David Mark, senate president, who presided over the session, disclosed that th‎e senate would deliberate on the 2015 constitution amendment bill on Thursday when the 7th assembly is expected to end.

In addition, the senate passed 46 bills‎ amid a rowdy session.
