Uba Sani
Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna state has cleared all outstanding tuition fees owed to foreign universities by students sponsored by the state government.
The payment, which totals $247,235.84, equivalent to N407,937,750, covers fees for students abandoned by the previous administration in various countries, including those studying Medicine and Nursing.
Yahya Saleh Ibrahim, executive secretary of the Kaduna State Scholarship and Loans Board, confirmed this in a statement on Saturday.
Ibrahim said many of the affected students had been left stranded abroad and were unable to graduate, renew their visas, or access academic records due to the unpaid fees.

He said the state government has also cleared foreign tuition fees for students from 2023 to date.
“Governor Uba Sani has directed the Kaduna State Scholarship and Loans Board to liaise with all foreign universities where Kaduna State students are studying to ascertain the status of their tuition fee payments,” the statement said.
The directive, according to Ibrahim, is aimed at identifying and settling any outstanding payments not captured in the board’s master list.
“The governor is determined to put in place a robust process that will end the hardship being experienced in foreign universities by Kaduna State students,” he said.
