The Gbagyi Development Union (GDU), a group that represents Gbagyi communities in Chikun LGA of Kaduna state, has raised an alarm over the rising spate of insecurity within their localities.
In a statement on Tuesday, Caleb Nayaro, spokesperson of the union, said several communities in Chikun LGA have continued to suffer devastating attacks, abductions, and destruction of farmlands by armed herdsmen and bandits.
“GDU wishes to express deep pain and concern over the security situation that has left Gbagyi communities vulnerable, traumatised, and economically crippled,” the statement reads.
Nayaro noted that the security situation in Gbagyi communities is deteriorating and called for decisive government intervention to tackle the criminals.

According to him, kidnappers invaded Kujama, the headquarters of Chikun LGA, on October 20 and abducted 12 persons, including a medical doctor and some patients in a private hospital.
“On the 23rd of October 2025, bandits invaded the Gbakun (KSTV) community, also in Kujama, and kidnapped eight persons, including an infant of two weeks old, while on the 27th of October, they entered Bukka Kujama and kidnapped seven persons,” he said.
He added that Adamu Auta, a member of the GDU board of trustees, was attacked at his residence around 2 am on October 29, while nine members of his family were abducted.

“On October 28, four persons were abducted in Kadaru, five persons were abducted, and eleven motorcycles were snatched in Kankomi village on the same date,” Nayaro said.
“Reuben Dantata of Ligari village was attacked on his farm on Sunday, 26th October 2025.”
He said in Sibiri village, over three hectares of land planted with soya beans, which belongs to Ephraim Udawa, a former lawmaker, was destroyed by herdsmen.
“These unending attacks have caused untold hardship and heightened fear among our people, who can no longer go to their farms or live peacefully in their ancestral homes,” the GDU spokesperson said.

He lamented the “continued marginalisation of the Gbagyi people in political appointments, despite being one of the major ethnic groups and indigenous communities in the state.”
The group praised Uba Sani, governor of Kaduna, for promoting peace and development in the state, urging him to pay attention to the plight of the Gbagyi people.
Nayaro called for an immediate security intervention in all the affected communities to rescue the abducted victims and prevent further attacks.
