Olufemi Oluyede, chief of army staff (COAS), says Kaduna state has become safer and more peaceful since Uba Sani assumed office as governor.
Oluyede spoke on Friday during a courtesy visit to the governor at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim House, ahead of the Nigerian Army Day celebration, which begins on Sunday.
He attributed the improved security situation in the state to the governor’s inclusive style of governance.
“Since you came on board, Kaduna State has been more peaceful. And there is no other reason besides the fact that you run an inclusive government,” Oluyede said.

“Before now, places like the stretch from Kaduna to Birnin Gwari, down to Tegina was a no-go area. The same thing—we had issues with the Kaduna-Abuja expressway. But it is in the past now.”
The army chief also thanked the governor for supporting the 1st mechanised division and for allowing Kaduna to host this year’s Nigerian Army Day celebration.
He said the army, which will mark its 162nd anniversary on Sunday, will continue to complement the efforts of the Kaduna state government.

Sani praised the Nigerian Army for its role in keeping the country united and safe and thanked the military for helping to stabilise Kaduna’s security landscape, while also commending their synergy with other security agencies.
The governor pledged continued logistical support to the army and promised to deepen collaboration for improved security.
“The Nigerian Army has remained an instrument of national unity, integration, and development,” Sani said.
“You have continued to make huge sacrifices to keep our country safe from criminal elements. Nigerians owe you a debt of gratitude.

“I will also not fail to acknowledge and appreciate the commendable way in which the Army, and indeed the entire armed forces, has subordinated itself to civil democratic authority. This is crucial for a healthy democracy and a stable society.”
“The Kaduna state government will continue to give logistical support to the Nigerian Army to enhance its operational effectiveness and efficiency.”
