Kaduna has been named Nigeria’s most transparent and accountable state for the second consecutive year.
This is according to the 2025 transparency and integrity index (TII) released by the Centre for Fiscal Transparency and Public Integrity (CeFTPI).
Supported by the MacArthur Foundation, the annual index assesses all 36 states of the federation across five key areas, including fiscal transparency, open procurement, human resources, control of corruption, and citizens’ engagement.
In a statement on Thursday, Ahmed Maiyaki, Kaduna’s commissioner for information, said the state led the national ranking with a composite score of 49.08 percent, ahead of Kano (46.86 percent) and Osun (45.97 percent).

He said Kaduna also achieved the highest national score of 80 percent in the control of corruption category, reflecting the strength of its anti-graft systems and ethical governance frameworks.
“This is not an accidental achievement. It reflects Governor Uba Sani’s strategic focus on building transparent systems that deliver real value to the citizens,” the commissioner said.
“Transparency breeds trust, and trust is fundamental to effective leadership.”

Uba Sani, Kaduna governor, described the recognition as a validation of his administration’s commitment to ethical and accountable governance.
“Our administration has prioritised transparency and accountability as pillars of sustainable development,” the governor said.
“This recognition by the Centre for Fiscal Transparency reaffirms that Kaduna is not only performing but doing so with integrity.
“We will deepen ongoing reforms, enhance citizen participation, and ensure prudent management of public resources.”
