G.A. Kurfi, chairman of the interim management committee of Kaduna north local government council, has been recalled from suspension.

Samuel Aruwan, spokesman of Nasir el-Rufai, governor of the state, announced the recall on Tuesday, quoting Balarabe Lawal, secretary to the state government, as ordering Kurfi’s reinstatement in a letter dated November 13.

Kurfi was suspended on October 8 for allegedly flouting the rules guiding land recovery in the state.

“After his suspension, his conduct was investigated and he was invited to respond to a query,” Aruwan said in a statement.

“Following consideration of his response, and the conclusion of investigations, the government determined that his conduct in tackling illegality was commendable. But it noted that the administrative lapses that occurred in the implementation of the action were unfortunate.

“The investigation cleared the chairman of any wrongdoing, and commended his courage and initiative. The government has therefore decided to lift the suspension, and recall him to office.

“The letter also admonished the recalled chairman to always abide by laid down administrative procedures. The government further said it expects full compliance with regulations by all public officials.”
