Kaduna traditional ruler regains freedom — three days after abduction

Danladi Gyet Maude, a first-class traditional ruler in Jaba Chiefdom, Kaduna state, has regained his freedom from captivity.

Mohammed Jalige, police spokesman in Kaduna, confirmed his release.

The traditional ruler was abducted on Monday on his way to his farm in Nasarawa state.

The kidnappers were said to have invaded the farm and seized the traditional ruler, leaving his aides behind

NAN quoted a source as saying that the traditional ruler had returned home in “good condition’’.

The bandits had allegedly demanded N100  million ransom but the source could not confirm if it was paid to secure the monarch’s release.

The development is the latest in a series of abductions involving traditional rulers in the state in recent times.

Earlier, Alhassan Adamu, the Emir of Kajuru, in Kajuru LGA of Kaduna, was abducted.

The bandits, numbering over 200 had invaded the emirate, firing gunshots, before proceeding to the emir’s palace.

Three women, two of his grandchildren, three of his aides, and five others were abducted.

The 85-year-old emir later regained his freedom a day after he was kidnapped.
