Kano closes secondary schools for voter registration

Kano closes secondary schools for voter registration
November 13
13:56 2014

The Kano state government on Thursday ordered the closure of public secondary schools in the state.

Hajiya Hadiza Habib, the assistant director of information in the state ministry of education, said the decision was taken in order to allow students who attained the age of 18 years to partake in the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) by INEC.

INEC had set aside November 12 and November 17 for the registration of those who did not registered four years ago but have now reached 18 years of age.

Habib directed parents whose children were in boarding schools to pick their wards and return them on November 19.

It called on the eligible students to make the best use of the opportunity and participate fully in the exercise.

She however advised parents to ensure that their wards returned to school as scheduled, as disciplinary measures would be taken against truant students
