Kano Hisbah arrests 25 over ‘same-sex wedding’

The Kano Hisbah Board says its operatives have arrested 25 people for allegedly organising a same-sex wedding in the Hotoro area of the state.

Mujahedeen Aminudeen, deputy commander of the board, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Sunday.

Aminudeen said the suspects, made up of 18 men and seven women, were apprehended on Saturday at the Fatima Event Centre along the Hotoro bypass.

“Today, Saturday, 25th October 2025, we got a report that some people were allegedly organising a same-sex marriage,” the statement reads.

“Our personnel stormed the Fatima Event Centre, the venue of the illegal gathering, and arrested 25 people — 18 males and seven females.”

He said the suspects included the groom and guests who came from areas such as Sheka, Yar Gaya, and Kofar Nasarawa.

Aminudeen warned that the board would not tolerate acts that threaten what he described as the moral and cultural fabric of Kano.

“We will not fold our arms and allow undesirable elements to tarnish the good image of our state,” he said.

The deputy commander urged residents to support the board by providing information on activities that undermine public morality.

“The board will continue to identify and raid such places that promote immorality,” he added.

The Kano Hisbah Board is responsible for enforcing moral regulations under Islamic law in the state.
