Kano hisbah arrests 8 over alleged refusal to fast during Ramadan

The Kano state Hisbah board has arrested eight persons who allegedly refused to observe Ramadan fasting.

The eight persons were arrested at Tudun Murtala in Nassarawa LGA and Hudebiyya in Sharada.

Lawal Ibrahim, public relations officer of the board, released a statement to this effect on Thursday.

Aliyu Kibiya, executive director of the board, said the arrest was carried out after the case was reported by residents in the area.

“The culprits were five females and three males, eating in the afternoon in the month of Ramadan,” the statement reads.

The board assured residents of a continuous effort towards curbing similar conduct in all parts of the state.

The Kano Hisbah corps is a religious police force established by the state government in 2003. It is responsible for the enforcement of Shariah.
