Nigeria league champions, Kano Pillars, crashed out of the CAF Champions League after they could only beat Morocco’s Moghreb Athletic Tetouane (MAT) 2-1 at the Sani Abacha Stadium on Saturday.

Second half goals from Tony Edjomariegwe and Rabiu Ali was not enough to overturn the 4-0 deficit from the first leg as Pillars are bundled out 5-2 on aggregate.

Hat-trick hero in the first leg, Mouchine Iajour, put MAT ahead in the 33rd minute to silence the home fans.

Pillars drew level after 61 minutes through Edjomariegwe and Ali added a second after he dribbled his way into the opponent box before firing home.

That was in the 90th minute and the host had little time left to score four more goals they needed to advance to the group stage of the competition.
