MTN Nigeria Communications Plc has announced leadership changes that will see Karl Toriola, its chief executive officer (CEO), take on an additional role within the MTN Group.
In a notice to the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) on Monday, Uto Ukpanah, the telco’s company secretary, said Toriola will now also serve as vice-president (VP) for Francophone Africa at MTN Group Limited, overseeing operations in Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Benin, and Congo Brazzaville.
Toriola previously served as the group’s West and Central Africa (WECA) region before his appointment as CEO of MTN Nigeria in 2021.
“Dr Toriola has extensive prior experience in the role, having served as VP for West and Central Africa at MTN Group Limited,” the company said.

The company also announced that Ferdinand Moolman, a non-executive director, will exit its board effective October 31.
Moolman was appointed CEO of MTN South Africa, effective November 1.
Moolman has held several senior leadership roles within the telecoms firm, including serving as a former CEO of MTN Nigeria.

“The board wishes to express its appreciation to Mr. Moolman for his immense service to MTN Nigeria and success in his new role,” the company added.
MTN Nigeria said its board remains committed to sustaining the company’s growth trajectory and delivering long-term value to shareholders and other stakeholders.
