Mansur Musa
Mansur Musa, a member of the house of representatives, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Tajudeen Abbas, speaker of the house, announced Musa’s defection in a letter read on the floor of the lower legislative chamber on Tuesday.
The legislator represents Gwandu/Aleiro/Jega federal constituency of Kebbi state. APC leaders from the state were in the chamber to witness the defection.
Musa said he resolved to dump the PDP over the “deep-seated” internal conflict in the party, which has affected the representation of his constituency.

The lawmaker said the APC is a “more coherent and stable platform to deliver meaningful representation to the people”.
Abbas declined to recognise a point of order raised by opposition lawmakers, apparently to protest the defection.
Abbas subsequently adjourned plenary after announcing the defection.

The defection further reduces the number of PDP lawmakers in the house of representatives.
