Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, chief justice of Nigeria (CJN), has paid tribute to the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing him as a leader whose life was shaped by duty, discipline, and an enduring sense of national purpose.
In a statement issued on Monday, Kekere-Ekun said she received the news of the former president’s death with sadness.
The CJN added that she is filled with gratitude to God for “a life well lived” by the late Buhari.
She described him as a true statesman who served Nigeria first as a military head of state, and later as a democratically elected president, leaving behind a legacy of commitment to the nation’s progress despite personal and political challenges.

“President Buhari’s life was defined by duty, discipline, and a remarkable consistency of purpose,” she noted.
“His unwavering commitment to the Nigerian project, despite personal and political setbacks, stands as a lasting testament to his resilience and belief in the nation’s potential.
“In a time of shifting values, his example reminds us of the importance of perseverance, principles, and public service.

“I urge all Nigerians to reflect on his legacy and draw inspiration from his dedication to national development. May his soul rest in perfect peace.”
She extended her condolences to Buhari’s immediate family, the government and people of Katsina state, and all Nigerians mourning the loss of the former leader.
Buhari passed away on Sunday in a clinic in London, United Kingdom (UK), at 82.
He will be buried in his hometown of Daura, Katsina, on Tuesday.
