Kenneth Okonkwo, the Nollywood actor turned politician, says the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are not qualified to be called political parties

In an interview on AIT on Tuesday, the movie star, who recently joined the Labour Party (LP) after dumping the APC, said both parties have “contributed to the insecurity bedevilling the nation.”

“This government has failed and they built their failure on the failure of PDP,” he said.

“PDP displayed incompetence, this government displayed incapability. And when incompetence meets incapabilities, it would generate inconsequentiality.

“So, these two parties have become inconsequential to the developmental equation of Nigeria. And they are even, as presently formed, not qualified to be called political parties by virtue of our constitution.

“APC had six years of grace to tackle terrorism, and the reason being that terrorism arrived in Nigeria in 2009. And PDP stayed 6 years after that.

“After six years in power, you have no moral authority to refer to PDP as being responsible for your failure in protecting the lives and properties of Nigerians.”

Earlier this month, the politician urged Atiku Abubakar and Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidates of PDP and APC respectively, to step down for Peter Obi of the LP.

Okonkwo added that Obi represents Nigeria’s best chance of survival amid the challenges facing the country.

“Security, economy and fight against corruption have collapsed. The APC has failed and their failure is built on the foundation of the failure of the PDP that failed first and acknowledged that, so Nigeria is yearning for a change,” he had said.

“Obi is the best candidate for Nigeria. The burden of the survival of Nigeria is now on the hearts everybody, including the terrorists because Nigeria has to survive. So, everyone is looking for the survival of Nigeria and a way of escape.

“Peter Obi is now the symbol of that escape and everybody should fall in line. If I see Atiku Abubakar and Bola Tinubu, I’ll beg them to step down and support Peter Obi to become president.”
