Festus Keyamo, spokesman of President Muhammadu Buhari’s reelection campaign, says the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has its existence only on Twitter and Whatsapp.
He said this in reaction to a statement by the PDP, accusing the ruling APC of “killing democracy” by fielding Buhari as its only presidential candidate.
But Keyamo replied that the APC was not doomed but rather, the PDP is the one winding up.
“As of today, the PDP only exists on Twitter and Whatsapp. The APC is not doomed; rather, it is the PDP that is winding up,” he said.
“The solution to a problem cannot be to go back to the people who caused the problem.”
He said the allegation that Buhari had suppressed internal democracy in the party was a “figment of the PDP’s imagination”.
He noted that unlike the PDP which printed only one presidential nomination form which was obtained by ex-President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015, the APC, ahead of the 2019 election, had printed many forms but other presidential aspirants bowed to Buhari’s popularity and chose not to obtain forms.
