Kidnapped hotelier, family members regain freedom in Oyo

Olukunle Oyedokun, owner of Agbo hotel, his wife and other family members that were kidnapped in Oyo state on Saturday, have been released by their abductors.

According to NAN, the victims were released after payment of an undisclosed amount as ransom.

Gunmen had invaded the hotel in Ogbomoso about 10:30pm on Saturday pretending to be lodgers and shot sporadically into the air before kidnapping the victims.

The kidnappers were said to have demanded N32 million ransom for the release of the abductees.

Adewale Osifeso, state police spokesman, confirmed the release of the abductees.

“Yes, they have been released,” he said.

Osifeso did not, however, disclosed whether ransom was paid before the release of the victim.

There has been a series of kidnapping incidents across Oyo state in recent times.

On April 22, 18 passengers travelling along Eruwa/Igbo-Ora road, Ibarapa area of the state were kidnapped by gunmen.

On April 8, four persons were abducted after an attack on several communities across Igangan in Ibarapa area of the state.
