Suspected gunmen have abducted Stanley Okwekwe, a management staff of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), at Eket LGA in Akwa Ibom state.

NAN reports that a witness said Okwekwe was abducted in front of his residence at about 9: 00 p.m. on Sunday.

The witness said the abductors had established contact with Okwekwe’s wife who then reported the incident to the management of NUPRC on Monday.

He added that the abductors have asked for N10 million ransom from the victim’s wife for his release.

“The family has accepted to pay the sum of N 10 million as ransom,” the witness alleged.

Odiko MacDon, the state police public relations officer, said the command will look into the situation.

“We will find out, but for now, I don’t have any information with me,” NAN quoted MacDon saying.
