Kidnappers free rep after N10m ransom
Sani Bello, member of the house of representatives from Mashi/Dutsi federal constituency, Katsina, has been released by his captors.
According to Daily Trust, Shittu Shittu, Katsina state chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), disclosed this, saying a ransom of N10 million was paid.
Bello was kidnapped on Wednesday around Gobirawa village of Birnin Gwari, Kaduna.
“The abductors asked that the member’s driver should take the money to a designated place and just between 15 and 20 minutes later, Bello was released,” Shittu said.
On Thursday, Salisu Agaisa, police public relations officer in Katsina, told NAN that the state police command was collaborating with its Kaduna counterpart to secure the release of the lawmaker.
“Though, the incident occurred in Kaduna state, I want to assure you that the two police commands are sharing intelligence information with the aim of rescuing the member,’’ he had said.
