A woman, identified as Elizabeth Oyeniyi, has accused Abdulmumini Danga, Kogi state commissioner of water resources, of raping her.

In a viral video, Oyeniyi said the commissioner abducted her over a Facebook post she made against him.

She further accused the commissioner of making her record a video to recant her Facebook claims.

Yahaya Bello, governor of the state, has, however, ordered an investigation into the matter.

In a statement, Kingsley Fanwo, the state’s commissioner for information, said the governor ordered the investigation so the truth can be uncovered.

“The attention of the Kogi State Government has been drawn to the allegations of assault, battery and other serious crimes leveled against the above-named individual who is a serving Commissioner in Kogi State,” the statement read.

“It is alleged that he is involved in the alleged abduction and assault of a woman which allegedly occurred in Lokoja recently.

“Accordingly, the Governor has ordered accelerated investigation into the matter and hereby assures both accuser and accused, as well as the general public, that the whole truth will be uncovered and justice served as appropriate.

“The Kogi State Government reaffirms its unalloyed commitment to the protection of everyone from all forms of oppression, and will not tolerate violence against women or children under any form or guise.

“We give our word that if these allegations are proven, everyone found culpable will be brought to  justice.”
