Kola Ologbondiyan, former national publicity spokesperson of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has resigned from the party.

Ologbondiyan, who disclosed his intention to leave the opposition party in a letter addressed to the PDP ward chairman in Okekoko ward 9, Kabba/Bunu LGA of Kogi state, did not state any reason for his decision.

“Let me start by thanking you as well as other levels of leadership in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the opportunities provided for me to serve the party as well as our fatherland, Nigeria,” the letter reads.

“It is now imperative to bring your attention to the fact that I have reviewed my participation in the PDP and came to the conclusion that, for personal reasons, I need to make my exit.

“I have therefore come to a decision to formally withdraw my membership of the PDP, henceforth.”

The PDP has been grappling with an internal crisis, which has led to members resigning in droves.

Following his resignation from the PDP, Ologbondiyan is expected to formally join the African Democratic Congress (ADC), the opposition coalition, formed in June.
