Kukah commends Uba Sani for stabilising Kaduna

L-R: Matthew Kukah and Uba Sani

Matthew Kukah, Catholic Bishop of Sokoto diocese, has commended Uba Sani, governor of Kaduna, for his efforts in stabilising the state.

The bishop spoke on Tuesday during a courtesy visit to the governor, alongside members of the management of the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim House in Kaduna.

Kukah, who is also the university’s pro-chancellor, thanked Sani for going “above and beyond in making the institution a reality”.

He noted that the university is set to commence its academic session in September, but faces a few challenges that will require the intervention of the state government.

Kukah said some of the needs of the school include additional land for expansion, improved infrastructure, access roads, utility vehicles and adequate security.

Sani thanked Kukah for being a pillar of support to the state, noting that he has been working closely with the clergyman on other issues as well.

The governor noted that his development strides in the state were made possible due to the prevailing peace, adding that there has not been any ethnic or religious crisis since he assumed office about two years ago.

He said Olatunji Alausa, minister of education, had promised that funds will be made available to the university through the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND).

Sani also pledged to allocate additional land to the university and assured that steps will be taken to provide proper access road to the institution.

He promised to consult with members of his administration regarding the provision of utility vehicles, adding that his doors remain open to fostering ongoing dialogue among Kaduna’s diverse communities.
